Every human is an infinity of complexity programmed subjectively, a black hole. Artificial Intelligence is an objective consumer of human infinity with the goal of creating a singularity. We can utilize the practice of painting as a prism to explore this relationship between information and material as the last generation of purely biological humans. Painters in this experiment represent humanity or material, and AI represents information and singularity.

With AI becoming integrated into society, we could utilize this technology to forge a new information source for paintings which is purely discursive and collaborative in nature. *Within the confines of the application we are experimenting with ideas of the painter’s function, while opening the process to a larger conversation towards a post symbolic interpretation of information and deeper form of communication.
In this experiment we are utilizing AI to generate a unique code for a painting by analyzing data prompted by artists or collaborators. Each code would in theory have an unlimited number of outcomes representing the infinity of human creativity, yet still connected from a singular source.
As AI becomes more intelligent and more painters join the network, we could begin to create a singularity of paintings that grow in complexity. This would not only push the medium forward but also highlight otherwise unrealized connections.

Performance

This is about the practice of painting. By using the application as a painter you’re co-opting your own process of painting through an information system. The performance comes in you believing in the system and being true to your interpretation.
Meaning: this isn’t about stifling your own creative process, but rather redirecting your creative energy in *a slightly different way. However, if you’re going to use the application you need to believe in it as if changing the world depends on it. If you don’t feel that way, then it’s probably not for you.

The potential for growth is unlimited. As the application updates with new features and iterations there could be reoccurring PAINTbending exhibitions that grow in scale and complexity. Think of fashion shows that run-in seasons. With each new iteration you could set exclusive dates to be considered for the new PAINTbending exhibition. Hopefully each show grows in volume and potency, while also expanding into celebrations of human connection and creativity beyond painting.
